What Will I Learn? [show]
Who Is WPX Hosting?
WPX Hosting offers premium managed WordPress hosting that focuses on providing fast website load times and first-class support.
I ran tests to find best WordPress host and WPX Hosting won.
They were the fastest to load:
- Image heavy websites
- Heavy plugin sites
- A website undergoing a stress test (WordPress performance tester plugin)
- A website with high load (500 simultaneous visitors)

How Much Does WPX Hosting Cost?
WPX Hosting is one of the more affordable options around when compared to other managed WordPress hosts.
Their starting business plan gives you 5 websites for $24.99 monthly.
WPX Hosting also offers professional and elite options, as well.
Don’t be surprised by their affordable rates.
Because contrary to popular belief…
The most expensive WordPress hosting don’t offer faster loading or better support.
What Do You Get For Your Money?
Just before we start, I’d like to share something with you.
Terry Kyle, the CEO and co-founder of WPX Hosting built the service as a solution to his frustrating experiences with almost every web hosting provider.
That’s why he started WPX hosting in 2013.
He understood the struggles of bad hosting (and yes, I’ve been through it!)
And it shows in his product.
Lightning Fast Loading Times
Almost every WordPress Host will tell you they have fast-loading times.
I decided to put this to the test.
When it came to loading an image-heavy site, WPX Hosting came out on top with a page load time of only 1.13 seconds.
2.25 seconds.
Then I ran the WordPress Performance Tester plugin to stress test the servers.
This is what happened-
So I raised the bar.
I wanted to see how each host would perform under stress from 500 simultaneous visitors.
And WPX won by a long mile!
Here’s a table that summarises all the tests and speed times.
As I’d like to say once again:
You can trust WPX Hosting when it comes to lightning-fast load times- which is great considering that site speed is part of the core web vitals (official ranking factors!).
24/7 Expert Support
Getting on-demand quality support is vital.
But according to EVERY WordPress hosting company, there are these self-proclaimed WordPress Experts ready to help you right away.
So I put them on a test.
I wanted to see:
- How long it took support to respond
- If they would fix the problem for me
Once again, WPX Hosting was the most impressive out of the bunch.
They answered almost immediately.
And completed the request in 10 minutes!
Here’s a drawback.
WPX hosting doesn’t have phone support.
But.
They’ve never had much trouble resolving issues through chat support.
- They have a 30-seconds response time on LiveChat.
- And a 5 minutes response time on tickets.
But if no phone support is something you’re concerned with, you can find alternative hosting providers that offer this option.
Free CDN
A content delivery network (CDN) is like having a mini-server nearby.
Instead of loading content from the origin server, you have a server nearby that can load websites more quickly.
So even though you’ll be hosting your website with a specific data center.
This way, your visitors from six different continents can see your blog from a fast and local server…
And not from the other side of the world!
With WPX Hosting, they’ve built their own CDN called the WPX Cloud.
WPX Cloud
The WPX Cloud is WPX Hosting’s own custom-built CDN.
Unlike conventional CDN companies (who are not hosting companies), the WPX team continually tests and tweaks their cloud CDN for the best WordPress performance.
Here are a few key defining features about the WPX Cloud.
- It can handle high-traffic.
- There are mini-servers all around the world in over 20 worldwide locations.
- It’ll help improve your site’s security.
Free SSL
SSL Certificates are must-have for most sites today.
It won’t stop bot attacks or malware embedded in rogue WP plugins. But it’ll secure the interception of data between your visitor’s computer and other websites.
While SSL can be pretty cheap, it’s tricky to install.
It can take you hours!
Especially if you’re not technically-skilled.
BUT the SSL game changed significantly.
Major tech companies like Google and Automattic (owner of WordPress), have sponsored a new free SSL initiative called Lets Encrypt.
These SSL Certificates are free…but they still require implementing.
While they leverage free SSL Certificates from Lets Encrypt, they created an automated software that adds Lets Encrypt’s free SSL Certificates to your websites hosted with WPX.
Their automated SSL installation takes less than 60 seconds.
Free Migrations
Remember how I told you WPX Hosting took care of migrating my websites after that horrible experience with WP Engine?
It wasn’t just for me.
They do free migrations for everyone looking to switch.
But best of all, they’re super quick at is.
They complete website migrations within 24 hours once they have all the information they need.
So how does it work?
- Create an account with WPX Hosting.
- Send them your current hosting account details and WordPress logins for the sites you want to move via a support ticket.
- WPX Hosting will let you know once it’s done.
Free Daily Backups
A lot can go wrong on WordPress.
That’s why you always need to backup.
But at WPX Hosting, they’ll automatically backup your website daily.
They also securely keep backups in a separate server for 28 days.
Their backup tool helps you access the backup system any time you like. You can restore previous versions easily and even save a manual version of your website.
Free Malware Scanning & Hack Clean Ups
Some hosting sites will send their customers to a security WordPress plugin like Sucuri via an affiliate link.
They expect their customers to pay for the security plugin.
…on top of their hosting charges!
Thankfully… WPX hosting cleans malware from WPX servers everyday for free.
It’s all included in their plan.
They address KNOWN vulnerabilities at server level, so all WPX-hosted sites are protected.
Here are the security measures running 24/7 on WPX-hosted sites:
- Custom and Constantly updated Web Application Firewall (WAF)
- Enterprise-level DDOS Protection (more on that below!)
- Daily system-wide malware scans
- Daily system-wide malware and malicious file removal
- Cleanup of malicious redirects, backdoors and script injections
- Daily updates to server security rules
- Individual site audits in specific cases by the WPX Malware Team
DDoS Protection
When it comes to protection, WPX Hosting takes it seriously.
That’s why they provide free Enterprise-level DDoS protection to all WPX Hosting customers with Incapsula, an industry leader in DDoS security.
If you don’t know what Incapsula is, here’s an article on how they mitigated a 470Gps DDos Attack – one of the largest assaults to date!
Incapsula normally costs at least $299 per website per month.
WPX also uses a higher Enterprise plan than the Business one listed below.
Staging Area
A staging area is a great place to test changes and implement major features safely.
But..unlike other hosting companies…
What do I mean like this?
Once you’re finished with the changes on your staging site, you can merge your staging site with the live version.
Here, you will automatically keep any new blog comments or edited/new posts and pages on the live site since you created the staging version.
BUT the merging process WILL ADD any other changes from the staging version to the live site.
This is a pretty unique feature other hosting companies don’t offer.
It’s a massive time saver!
Outstanding Trustpilot Ratings
If you’re looking for a great WordPress host, consistency is important.
What do other people say about WPX Hosting?
I know they’ve scored exceptionally well in my test, especially in the areas concerning:
- Speed
- Support
That’s when you know a company is doing a damn good job with their products.
You’ll Be Supporting Dogs
I love the fact that WPX Hosting has an amazing product and service.
But to know that they’re also supporting a social cause…
Puts the cherry on the cake.
They’ve undergone 8 different initiatives.
From rebuilding broken facilities in Slatina Puppy Shelter in Sofia…
…to buying land and building a new no-cage dog shelter…
… and now providing daily food for over 500 homeless dogs and cats every day.
Hands down a great product with a social cause!

Stay way from WPX. Really its bad hardware with overturned site caching. If you use anymore than like 4 plugins your site will really start to feel it. Blows my mind that Matthew would even recommend these guys. Must be getting a pretty good referral commission.
Hey Jason, thank you for sharing your experience with us.
I recommend this hosting because I’ve tried it, tested it and, as you can see in the post, it performed very well. 😉
WPX Review
WARNING: They don’t have etiquette security in place to prevent phishing or spoofing attacks. Their email is VERY BASIC (their words).
We were never having these issues before until we switched to WPX. We were getting email replies form people we never sent emails to. When this happens, WPX support disables our emails altogether. And they send us an email to our email which is the account they just disabled!!! So we don’t receive the email…
They instruct us to change password and use captcha which we already do. then they re-enable it. One month passes, same thing happens again, they shut down the emails.
We have lost thousands of dollars because of this! I even replied to one of the advertisements on Facebook, and their CEO was nasty!
Very concerned about what I said and that I said it publicly, rather than fixing their problem.
So to clarify, to keep their emails secure they only have SPF.
NO DKIM, NO DMARC
We have moved to Google Workplace and not looking back.
BTW, their customer service is just whatever. No true empathy. Its the culture I am sure that is encouraged from the very top.
NOT RECOMMEND.
After using Cloudways, Siteground and different other hosters for years, you convinced me to give WPX a try. I’ve been using it since black friday 2020. So far the speed is good, but Google Pagespeed insights says the server responds slow while the exact same website does not have this problem a day earlier when it was hosted on Cloudways.
A big pro for us is of course the fact they give a share of their profit to help dogs, since my life goal is to help as many dogs as possible through online education.
Also their support responds really fast to questions, which is a big pro if you need something fast. Also you can host your e-mails, which you can at Siteground but not at Cloudways.
So far I have a few cons for WPX, which if I knew them in advance, would make me choose another hosting:
-They treat their speed as a chefs recipe: Ask cloudways why websites they host are fast and you get an in-depth technical response, Ask wpx why the websites they host are fast and they simpy point to their CDN.
-Their staging deployment is terrible: first of all they say if the website is 4-5gb big it might fail to deploy. Like really? Also after 10 deployments of different staging websites, 2 deployments went fine, 4 times it completely failed to deploy (which the support fixed after deploying it themselves), and 4 times it did deploy but broke elements on the website which weren’t broken on the staging website.
-Single staging deployment: You can only create 1 staging instance of a website, which is terrible for debugging. At cloudways I can clone my staging website, and try different solutions after which I delete the clone. This way you can try alot of solutions without worrying about having to revert back the changes. At WPX I’d have to move the website to another server to do this, or revert changes if a test doesn’t work (which is alot of extra work).
-No transparency about the future: I can’t find what their plans are for the future anywhere on the website or on their social pages. Maybe I missed it but I can’t find a roadmap or anything, while at other hosters you know what they are working on. The only thing you see on their social pages are how fast their hosting is, but it is just really shallow (no in-depth posts).
Overall I’d specifically advice WPX for complete beginners without any knowledge about speed optimization. If you have a small website it is just what you need: a fast hosting for a reasonable price with good support. If you have a medium-sized website and a bit of technical knowledge, you’re very limited and the hosting is not future proof, since if you grow you’d need to look for another hosting again, so I’d go for a hosting which is more scalable.
